So I heard it said that because the Quran originated from a human (~1400 years ago) that therefore this “proves” that homo sapiens are capable of creating such speech.
My response would be that if you heard a parrot reciting O Canada, would that prove that parrots are capable of coming up with such lyrics?
Obviously we know that the parrot must have heard it from somewhere and copied it, but how do we explain HOW we know this?
To answer that question we need to know about 2 things:
1. How parrots normally sound in the wild (in the absence of any human language).
2. How parrots generally work….ie that they copy and paste what they hear.
Now with regards to humans and the Quran we ought to look at the same two items.
1. The Arabic language that existed among the Arabs of the Arabian peninsula approx 1400 years ago.
2. How human brains/minds work…ie in a Kantian/predictive/active inferential way.
This leads us to realize that due to the novelty of Quranic Arabic vs the Arabic available to the brains of the Makkan Arabs to work with (mix and match with at the time) then the Quran is very likely authored by Who it is claimed to be authored by….ie One that can actually create “real patterns” for predictive minds to then discover and emulate.
